The Three Georgia Locker Room Thieves are Busted!

According to Yahoo News University of Georgia has finally caught the locker room thieves that stole $1,970 dollars worth of goods out of soon to be future teammate’s lockers. Deion Bonner, marquise Hawkins and the third one was unidentified because he is a juvenile. The three recruits were caught stealing IPods and Iphones out of 7 player’s lockers that were not secured. Deion Bonner is one of the best players in the country and has offers from several schools and all three kids have several offers from several schools in this area. All three players are in jail and the Bail is 1,500 dollars on each count that they are charged on.

University of Georgia police Chief Jimmy Williamson said they caught the three with a good investigation and FaceBook had a lot to do with it. Williamson was able to get warrants for the three and took them in on charges last Friday. Bonner is a 5’11 185 pound defensive back from Carver Columbus High school in Columbus Georgia. The Carver Coach Dell McGee is a very respected coach and a lot of coaches recruit from his school he has sent at least 3 players to a Division 1 schools on scholarship every year since 2009.

All I got to say is these kids are stupid do they know how many kids out there that would do anything to have the chance to do what they are doing kids like this take things for granted not knowing how fast they can mess up what they have already. This really makes me mad because I know a lot of kids that would love to be in there spot and are probably just as good just don’t get the exposure that they need to get recruited from the big schools.

I was one of the kids that dint get exposed playing in Hawaii it cost too much for coaches to fly there to recruit so it makes it hard to get recruited from big schools. But I know if I was given the opportunity like they were I wouldn’t mess it up for anything. Well I am the type of person that believes in second chances and believes that everybody makes stupid mistakes in their lives and I am one of them so I hope that these kids learn from their mistakes and are given a second chance from a school but I do know they just lost a lot of trust from a lot of coaches out there.

  1. Well this story is sure a bad deal. It is sad for the University of Georgia and I'm sure especially disappointing to their coach. I found it interesting though that facebook had some involvement in their being caught. I'm sure a lot of good investigative work has also gone into this crime being solved. I'm glad it all has come to an end but I am completely baffled to the reasons behind it all. The thought of what these young people, all of whom had such bright futures, have probably lost is sad to me. I'm not sad at what they have lost just sad as to the reasons they had for committing these crimes in the first place. You would think that since these kids have such a future ahead of them they wouldn't take it for granted and screw it up by stealing. They have so much at stake for them to lose over being just plain stupid. With the opportunities ahead of them they would earn more than enough money to purchase any of these items and then some. The embarrassment that will come along with whatever other punishment may bring will be incredible. This should have been a no brainer for them. This may have screwed up much more of their future than they even realize. What about prospective future employers? Who wants a thief working for them? Will they ever be considered trustworthy again? It’s going to be hard for them to recover from this act of dishonesty. It may have been a stupid act that was committed in their youth that will haunt them for many years to come in several more ways that they could have ever thought possible. Of course I'm also sure they never anticipated being caught and convicted for their crimes.

I'm really not sure they should be given a second chance. After all they are adults and know that this is not only wrong but illegal. It should be a huge consequence that is well deserved and makes them think twice before ever laying a hand on something that does not belong to them. I hate thieves and can too clearly remember my locker being gone through and several items taken while visiting my local gym not too long ago. I felt so incredibly sad. Not only with the loss of the items that were stolen but that someone in that gym maybe that I even worked out with daily was stealing from me as well as other members of the gym.

I'm sure there are tons of kids out there that would be so excited to have the opportunity these guys were given. Most with good grades who have worked hard and are good athletic members of their school teams. I'm also sure that most would not turn it in to such an illegal affair.

I know lots of students with great potential get overlooked just like you were saying happened to you because of the expense of the travel to Hawaii for coaches. It doesn't seem quite fair now does it?

  2. I can't believe that teammates would steal from each other. Being on a sports team myself it makes me a little nervous to leave my personal belongings with even the people I seem closest to and trust the most. This just goes to show you never know what people are capable of these days.

  3. I have had to deal with people I work with stealing out of lockers at my work. One type of person I can't stand is someone who would steal from someone else. I think thieving like that just show a lack of morals. Who would want someone like that on your team. Your supposed to be able to depend on a teamate. You know from a start you can't trust those guys, so why recruit them.
