According to Yahoo News 26 year old Danny Watkins from Canada will be entering the Draft coming up here soon for the NFL. But that is not the end of it he came along way to get where he is at. Danny was a volunteer fire fighter when he was 16 and in high school upon graduation at the age of 18 he became full time on the payroll but at 22 his fight chief told him he should go to California to a community college to take a course called fire science it was hard for Danny to stay away from the football coaches where they finally got him on the football field where he went on to play at Baylor and is now entering the 2011 draft.
This is just crazy just shows how good of a kid he is not too many kids are volunteer firefighters at the age of 16 I give him credit for just that alone. I know when the coaches at the junior college saw him they probably went crazy a 6’4 290 pound kid that looks solid enough to be a D1 player them coaches were most likely in heaven.
It’s amazing how he never even played football until he went to junior college he was a hockey player and his dream was to be a fire fighter that he already achieved football wasn’t nowhere on his mind. This is the dream of many kids when growing up play in the NFL of become a fire fighter or be a police officer and he has already lived thru two of them.
Is this a dream come true or what? I know many people would love to do what he has accomplished already. I think that he should really give thanks to his fire chief for talking him into going to college to take that course because if it wasn’t for him he would have never went he would have still been with them fighting fires as his profession. This is a story of a lifetime
I think that it is great he was just trying to learn more as a fire fighter and ended up finding his way to the NFL. I hope he does well and enjoys his career change.
